Lynn Matthews began her nursing career in 1983 on a Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona.  Four years later, she traveled to Ethiopia to care for victims of the devastating famine.  Over the next few years, Lynn also worked in Saudi Arabia and on a vaccination team in Cambodia.

After meeting her future husband Mark, Lynn joined a relief organization in Somalia where she worked with victims of war in the notorious Digfer Hospital in Mogadishu.

After marrying Mark Matthews in 1992, she began working as a nurse for youth incarcerated in a juvenile hall in Southern California.  However, every year since 1998, she used her annual leave to bring her message of hope and unity to young people around the world.

In 2008, she began traveling to Afghanistan and in 2014 she launched Kids Giving Hope to Kids to connect students in war zones with their American counterparts and give them opportunities to be the change they wish to see in the world.

After seeing the events unfolding in Ukraine and the massive flooding event in Pakistan, she went to these two countries as well in fall of 2022 and 2023.

During one of her visits to Afghanistan, she visited a school.
One of the boys in the class made this statement which is so simple, yet so profound:

"No sweeter word is there than this: Peace, Peace, Peace."

May peace come to our hurting world.
