Kids Giving Hope to Kids is an art program for peace that connects kids in conflict zones with kids in different countries.
The kids affected by war communicate with other children through art and letter writing that offer messages of hope and peace. The goal is to encourage and uplift children who have been impacted by war.
Lynn Matthews started the program after hearing about the horrific situation that the Iraqi and Syrian people were facing because of the war in 2014.
The first phase was a "Peace" drawing exchange between Afghan, Iraqi, and Syrian children who had been displaced by the war.
In 2015, it expanded to include American kids, with a mission to create awareness in them about the importance of empathy and compassion for others. In 2015 over 700 drawings were collected from many different schools in all four countries.
With the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Lynn Matthews is redoubling her efforts to find ways to safely connect children to reveal their shared sense of humanity.
